Health insurance
Health insurance is obligatory for anyone intending to live in Switzerland for more than three months. Those who are insured with an insurance provider in another country may submit a request for exemption from the requirement to take out health insurance imposed by Swiss law. The appropriate form must be accompanied by a copy of a European health insurance card, or, in the case of non-European students, a copy of a certificate temporarily substituting a European health insurance card, the certificate having been duly filled in and signed by the relevant foreign authority. Should the insurance in question be deemed insufficient, it will be necessary to take out a policy with a recognised Swiss insurance provider. Swiss students may also submit a request for exemption.
