The major in Instrumental/Vocal Teaching provides training in instrumental/vocal teaching in the area chosen and entails, in addition to educational-psychological study, a substantial performance component. The major in Elementary Music Education provides training in teaching music to children aged 4 to 12. The qualifications required to teach in a state school vary from canton to canton.
