Spazio 21

Spazio21 coordinates and carries out interdisciplinary projects and activities, primarily focused on contemporary creation.
The initiatives of recent years have taken on various forms and were mainly organized as thematic cycles, such as Lanterna Rossa (2010–2013) and Neon&Caffeine (2013–2015).

From the 2016–2017 academic year, EAR (Electro Acoustic Room) was launched, a series of concerts organised in collaboration with the LAC and dedicated to electroacoustic music. Dates and programmes are published on the LAC website (www.luganolac.ch). The concerts are devoted both to the acousmatic repertoire and to mixed music; for the latter, students enrolled in the EAR_Solo seminar are also involved. Sound diffusion is primarily entrusted to students from the MA in Composition programme.

Over the years, numerous composers have been invited, including Eric Oña, Elsa Justel, Pierre Alexandre Tremblay, Dante Tanzi, Alberto Barberis, Gary Berger, among others.

In addition to its decade-long collaboration with Oggimusica – a historic Ticino association for the promotion of new music – Spazio21 actively collaborates with other departments of SUPSI (particularly DEASS) in the development of targeted interdisciplinary projects.
