The Library provides access to the documentation it contains as well as help with research methods and retrieval of data and information. Access to the Library and its services is open to all persons resident in Switzerland. Management may also extend access to people living abroad on presentation of a substantiated request. Borrowing requests can only be made on site.
Finding accommodation in Lugano requires considerable effort on the part of the student as the local real estate market is very limited. The University School of Music, represented by Hernando Florez - Academic Office, endeavours to help students find solutions that are as affordable as possible and to suggest strategies and resources that they can use to search for accommodation, but it remains each student's own responsibility to do the research and follow all the necessary procedures to rent an apartment.
Through the Grants Office, the University of Music (SUM) offers assistance to students who are experiencing serious financial difficulties and need financial support. Grants are awarded by various institutions, in particular foundations. In addition, starting from the 2018-2019 academic year, some competitions for grants will be launched. The relevant information will appear on the website.
Following the suspension of negotiations with the EU to join the Erasmus+ programme, the Federal Council has adopted a transitional solution to continue to allow students, teachers and administrative staff of the institutions to implement exchange projects in Europe. The “Swiss-European mobility programme” (SEMP) will enable exchanges between Switzerland and universities in Erasmus+ countries with an Erasmus+ University Charter.
A MySUPSI card is issued to all students at the University School of Music, this is an ID card that allows access to numerous offers and discounts throughout Italian-speaking Switzerland.
