Anne-May Krüger studied voice and musicology at the Universities of Music in Leipzig and Karlsruhe. In 2020, she completed her doctorate, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, on vocal performers of the 1950s and 60s at the University of Basel in cooperation with HSM (published in 2022 by Wolke Verlag). Her artistic work particularly focuses on the field of new music. Concerts and music theater productions have taken her to renowned festivals, including MaerzMusik (Berlin), Wien Modern, the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music, and the Lucerne Festival, as well as to the Stuttgart State Opera, the National Theatre Mannheim, the Oldenburg State Theatre, and the Basel Theatre. In recent years, she has also emerged as a librettist and a festival curator. From 2011 to 2021, she was a research associate at the Hochschule für Musik Basel (HSM) / FHNW, heading the research focus "Performance Practice of New Music". Since 2018, she has been teaching both at the HSM and at the Institute of Musicology at the University of Basel. Between 2021 and 2024, she has developed two new Master programs at the HSM: the Master of Arts in Specialized Performance Music and Research as well as the Master of Arts Music and Scene in Transformation, running the former as head of studies since its implementation in 2023. Her articles have appeared in journals like Dissonance, Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, Nuove Musiche, as well as at Brepols Publishers, PFAU, Wißner, edition text + kritik, Laaber-Verlag, and Boosey & Hawkes (libretti).
